What does the painting convey to me?
Infinite space, filled with an infinite number of stars and worlds. The contrast between the vastness of the universe and the smallness of people has always fascinated me.
How can we, such small beings, be such incredible creators of beauty and light, but also of destruction and darkness? This painting began as a powerful vision that turned into a small drawing that ignited the fire of development and exploration.
I spent hours immersing myself in the vision to understand what it wanted from me. When I felt I had all the information I needed to take the next step, I contacted Peter Dorčevski, the director of the Ljubljana Opera Ballet.
He was the perfect model for this painting. He understood my vision and helped me bring this work of art to life with his incredible body control.
The painting depicts the archetype of the Creator that we all carry within us.
The spirit of nature, in the form of a deer, surrounds us, and we create everything from the elements of nature. We are nature. However, if we want to become creators of the highest quality, time and dedication are required, which is symbolised by the little rabbit caught in the middle of jumping into the black hole.
The rabbit symbolises our small self, the ego. Above it, hidden under a layer of colour, is a rabbit that has become light. This part of the painting will appear over the decades as the oil paint slowly becomes transparent. So it needs time to develop and grow.
Now I stand in front of this painting and feel such gratitude for life that I can live my dreams and bring my visions to life. That is the greatest gift!
Thoughtful and emotional
process of creation.
At the first exhibition of the painting (at the Kos Gallery in Ljubljana), I realized that I had painted the work too dark. Therefore, I invited Peter Dorčevski again to pose in front of the painting so I could correct the lighting values.
The lesson from this experience is that during the creation of my artistic studio, I should not have too much lighting.
